Welcome.

If you're a skeptic, a non-believer in spirits, or ghosts - call them what you will -
may I just say to you, meaning no offense whatsoever, please, keep an open mind.

We've all felt that "Someone's watching me." feeling. The one where the hair stands up on
the nape of your neck. Chill bumps form all over your body and you suddenly feel afraid, but
you're not sure why. You look around, but there's nothing there. Or is there?

Always before, a ghost, to me, was a spirit who had an agenda.. if I saw something
that I was just certain was a ghost, and I have seen things like this over my lifetime...
I'd get all freaked out, thinking it was something "bad"...something to be terrified of -
something that was there either to 'scare me away' - 'warn me of something', or to 'mess
with my head' because it was a 'wicked' thing. After all, I'd been taught that once a person
dies, if they were good, their soul goes to heaven. Those souls that hang around here after
the deaths of their earthly bodies... well.. obviously they couldn't have been good, and
their intentions after death couldn't be either. So..when I saw or heard something that wasn't
quite right, for me, it was "EXIT STAGE LEFT!"

So stupid, I was. So many times, I might have learned something and instead, I ran.

I began to get more brave as far as ghosts are concerned, a couple of years ago, when the one
that occupies my house came into the kitchen and started eavesdropping on a conversation I
was having with my daughter Bonnie.

That something had entered the kitchen without our having seen it, there was
no doubt. It got cold. Just suddenly very very cold. There was no new scent, no sound, just the
new chill...along with the feeling that someone had just walked in and was listening to
every word we were saying.

Bonnie got scared, but for some reason, while I was suddenly feeling cautious, and curious, I wasn't afraid.
Whatever it was positioned itself between my chair and Bonnie's. We just knew it was there.
Bonnie's eyes got big as eatin' plates, and all I could do was stare for a time at the empty
space between us that wasn't empty anymore.

Bonnie asked me if I felt the temperature change, and then she too looked at the empty space
between us, and trembling, pasty white, with chill bumps all over her arms, she whispered..
"It's right here isn't it."

I told her yes, but before she could respond, something began stroking her hair. She was too
afraid to move.. she freezes when she's scared. I could see her hair moving, and then as if
to show us proof that we weren't crazy, a strand of hair lifted from the side of Bonnie's head
and was drawn out to the side, as if whatever had the strand was inspecting it for dead ends.
That strand of hair was horizontal instead of verticle like the rest on her head!

I wasn't sure what to do, she was terrified, whimpering, squeeking, "Mom, do something! Help me!"
and I didn't know what to do. For some reason, I wasn't afraid for her.. it wasn't pulling her
hair, it was gently inspecting it. Suddenly for the first time, I wanted to know what the heck
was going on, who, why, and it occurred to me to get my camera.

I still laugh when I think about it. I calmly told her to relax, to talk to it, while I ran for
my camera. She got this incredulous look on her face, but her hair, still midair was in the
hand of someone she couldn't see, so she really didn't even think of trying to move. Still frozen,
all that moved on her were her lips while she told me off without taking a breath.

"AareyououtofyoureverlovinmindmomgetthisthingoffofmePLEASE!Hellwiththecamerajustmakeitletgoofme!"

I did get the shot, and I do still have it on a disk someplace. I'll have to go through my disks
and find it to post here. After I snapped the photo, whatever it was let go of her hair, and
left the room. The temperature went back to normal and that was that.

I've learned to keep an open mind. The cemeteries I've haunted for years taking my photographs
always seemed so silent, so final. I never ran into a "ghost" there, I never heard a "voice" whispering
to me. Often I felt 'watched' and chalked it up to someone standing in the woods, or a nearby
house, after all, if a ghost were closeby, it would surely let me know it. Right?

I found that this changed once I decided to look for them - to seek them out...
...and what's more, they started showing up in the most unexpected places.

I have more stories of encounters that I've had with spirits, but I'll save them for later,
right now, I want to show you something. Are you ready?
