Don't You Just Love it When...

...You think you're out of cigarettes and then you pick up a book and there is a whole pack, glistening like something from golden cigarette fairyland just laying there waiting for you to light one? *puff puff cough cough wheeze wheeze*

No, I didn't quit. I do think I deserve credit for trying and more recently, for thinking about trying again.

I'm feeling better now, so if anyone has a virus, or lung infection, cough, cold, or even an itchy scalp, STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM ME!!

It's raining now, it has been raining for days, a few very nice thunderstorms have passed by, but try as I might, I can't seem to capture any lightening with my camera. How do I do it? Someone out there tell me! I did get a pretty good shot of a raincrow (mourning dove) in the tree earlier today though.

Sarah took the girls home while ago, and Bonnie has Joel, so for a few hours I don't have any kids. I started to get ready to go out to get some graveyard shots, but it's cold, and my old bones pulled me back inside, refusing to go out there. What can you do when your own skeleton turns on you?

I've got just a few photos of the kids to post here, I'll do that in a few minutes, but first, what's new in my world. Bifocals. Those are new..or will be come Monday. My eye doc broke the news gently, like she was scared I'd get angry or fall apart at hearing that my eyes are officially "old". *shoots Shelly a warning glance* I wonder how many people really do fall apart when they're told their eyes are old by their optomotrimists? Anyway, I'll get to see what it's like to have Mrs. Santa style glasses on my own nose come Monday. Godamighty. Don't worry, all you younger folks who are snickering out there - and I know you are, I can FEEL you doing it - you can't say "been there, done that" - BUT YOU WILL, DAMN YOU, YOU WILL!!! *laughs*

Yesterday - Dad, Mom, Lisa and Nick came to visit for a while. Mom brought the girls another suffering present, a neat little wood chest full of beads for more necklace making. They really loved those, and I thought they were neat too.. thanks Mom that was nice of you. (again)

Dad stayed in the den - we have a step up into the kitchen and he has a time trying to get his oxygen tank and tubes up there, so he just sits in the den at the table in there. Mallory ran up to him and hugged him then sat by him chattering while playing with her dollhouse..and you all know by now about Dad and his famous flatulance... well.. he picked that moment to let one of his deadly silent toxic boomers. Mallory looked at him, started to protest when Dad accused her of doing it.. oh Mal has the world's weakest stomach, she started to run and shot him a dirty look and said, "Oh No, Grampaw, that wasn't me! If I had done that, my butt would have felt it!"

Mallory has been doing very well.. I'm so glad this medicine has worked for her. The only thing she does now that concerns me and that's just a little, is that she'll slap her own face, both cheeks and tell me that they're feeling fuzzy, or that they're scrambled. That bothers me but maybe her doctor will be able to figure out why.

Mikyla is Mikyla. That kid keeps me smiling.. she's a good youngin. She likes to imitate everything I do, just like she did when she was 2 years old - she's even talked mom into buying her a pair of reading glasses that she wears so she can look like me. She tickles me to no end. She's reading a little now, and spelling, and when she spots a word she recognizes she runs bringing me the book and points all thrilled then tells me what it says. She's smart as a tack.

Maegan is learning so much at once! She's crawling all over the place now, she turned 8 months old on the 5th...and she's trying her best to stand. She pulls herself up on one foot on the couch, the stool, in her crib.. but then she loses confidence and sits back down really easy.

She had me laughing so hard the other day. Sarah brought in some helium and some mylar balloons for them, and we blew them up, tied them all together and held them down by tying a barbie doll to them. Maegan would reach for them and they'd glide just a little away from her.. she was butt-hopping, as if there were an invisible spring attached to her behind...all over the floor, trying to keep up with those balloons.
She kept her legs out in front of her. Her spine stiff, her arms straight out..and just hopped forward, going to town, fast too, everywhere she wanted to go!
I've seen a lot of babies figure out how to get from here to there in tons of different ways, but this one is the funniest way I've ever laid my eyes on! She's Tigger!! *laughs*

Dad taught her how to play "Pat-A-Cake" too!

Joel is getting tall. He's a few inches taller than the bottom window pane in my kitchen door now. I noticed last night. He's starting to lose his baby fat and he's talking up a storm now. He's still asking for a 'cow pat' though, and none of us have a clue what he wants when he asks for it. We try to get him to show us, but so far his attention is just drawn to something else along the way so we just haven't found out yet, what he means when he asks for a cow pat. I'm sure tho that he's not wanting a pile of cow dung. Here's a pic I got of him earlier today - his face is Cheeto's coated, but it's adorable all the same!

I went to Lisa's last night, just wanted to go sit on her patio and try to get some pictures of lightening... I didn't get any, but I did get a shot of Nick playing his Saxaphone. That was the first time I'd seen it. I heard he had one and was taking lessons but I hadn't seen it before last night. He's takin' to wearing Tennessee Orange. BOOOOO NICK!!!! Traitor!! *laughs*

Aside from the letter Olivia sent to us last week, we've not heard from her or Acey and Breanna. I guess she's not had time to reply to my reply yet.
I hope the kids are doing well..

That's about all that's new in my world. Hope you all are doing well and are staying safe in the storms!
