...has been the busiest most hectic week of my life, I think. First Mik had a play at school. We had a week's notice that we needed to make her an Indian costume. I did it, and I have to say, it turned out pretty well. I only wish I'd gotten a photo of her wearing it.
Then we had Dippy's birthday, that was nice.. the pics are posted below, the spaghetti was delicious, thanks to Prego and frozen Garlic Bread. *laughs*
Thanksgiving was next, and that was a really nice day, the kids came and ate, then we sat around and just talked.. ended up talking about ghosts, and Roy M told one that gave me cold chills. It was the story of the Coal miners who died in a mine he was working at.. but who were still buried under the rockfall. He said he only worked one night in that mine and he was alone there that night, and that he could hear those dead miners in there working. Mamaw used to tell me that story, and I wrote it down in one of those Appalacian Tales I had posted a long time ago. The one where the guard of the mines heard the explosion and the men screaming and it was so real to him he actually phoned ambulances and fire trucks to come help, only to find out later that there weren't any men in the mines, that the accident he'd heard happened over 20 years ago. I thought that was just an old story mamaw told, but Roy said no, it was a real tale and quite a few guards quit because of the same thing happening to them. How cool is that? Oh I'd love to be able to get the paranormal group together and go there to do an investigation. We couldn't do it though, even if I had time. Roy said that MSHA wouldn't let us in. Bleah! Later, after our dinner, we went over to Mom's for dessert. Mallory had to go see Papaw, she likes him. We were still too full though to eat anything, but it was a nice visit. :)
Last night, I got Bonnie and Kelly to spend the night here, so they could stay with the kids while Stan and I got up at 3:30 A.M. - to go to Walmart and get in on the big Black Friday Christmas sale. I've never done that before, always wanted to, and so now I have. MY GOD! The sale started at 5.. we got there at 4:30 and I can't believe how packed they were! The whole lot was full and they were starting to park up on the grassy knoll of the highway itself! UNBELIEVABLE! I shuddered, shook my head no and we turned around and went to Biglots instead. Their sale started at 6 and they had a camera advertised in their sales ad that I wanted to get for Mikyla and Mallory for Christmas from Santa. A Polaroid digital camera with a printer dock for the unbelievably low price of $69.99.
We waited in the lot and finally people started pulling up, at at 5 till we went to stand in line at the door with the others. When they finally let us in, we found out that we had to get the cameras right there at the register, pay for it immediately and when they were out, they were out. We got in line behind about 8 other people, and I watched those cameras dwindle down to 3, then it was our turn. We tried to buy 2 but the lady said, oh no, there's a limit of one per customer.. so I said ok he'll take one and I'll take one. *laughs* unfair? maybe, but I got up at 3:30 to get those cameras. The girls will love 'em too!
I can say this with all certainty. Never Again. NOooway will I bother to get up that early to get out to those sales. Good God what a crowd!
Sarah and Roy came to say goodbye at about 4 this afternoon. Sarah quit her job and has gone back to Mississippi with him. I have the girls here with me, and Sarah and Roy should be back about Christmas-time. I don't know how that's going to work out for them, but I hope it goes well. The girls are fine with it, I thought they'd be sad, but they didn't even run to the door to see them off when they left. Mikyla was too busy on her computer, Maegan was too busy with my chocolate milk, and I don't remember what was keeping Mallory's attention so riveted. Anyway, they're gone and so far they've not called. But then it's a good 12 to 14 hour drive and they've not had time to get there yet. Maybe they'll call soon.
Happy Birthday, Again, Jana!! Love ya!!
Well..I'm running on an empty tank of energy - I didn't sleep last night for being afraid I'd miss the big Camera sale...and while I did get to take a 2 hour nap today, my eyes are burning, I'm so sleepy I can't see straight. I'm going to bed. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
G'nite world!!
