Lord help me, but whenever I hear this song I get so angry, frustrated with the song writer. UGH!! "I'll Wait For You."
The sentiment could be beautiful... IF the writer had done a verse or two say.. with the guy waiting for the woman once in a while.. but he didn't. He wrote that woman's whole life waiting for her man to get there for one thing or the other. Hell, she was in labor, and WAITED for him to get there before having her son.
It ends with the poor woman dying, leaving him a note.. because the sucker didn't get to the hospital in time, letting him know she'll wait for him at the the pearly gate.. she's dying and still he doesn't show up, something else keeps him away..as it did through their whole lives together (this is nothing new, she says repeatedly.. I'll wait for you) she'll tell St. Peter she's not gonna go in right now, she's waiting on her man.
If I've ever heard a morphed-redneck themesong, this is it.. and it's infuriating.
That's all the young ladies need to see and hear.. women, wait on your man. Yes! WAIT on your beer bellied-bird huntin'- bean fartin'- always late-never there even when you're dying ever lovin' man!
