The girls have been enjoying their summer vacation.. the weather is odd though, it was too cool to swim much until today. Today it was breathtakingly hot, yet the wind just blew hard, rustling the leaves in the trees, bending them, making them sway.. it felt like a storm was coming, but the sky was blue and the sun was relentless... way strange weather.
Joel is doing just fine, his foot is healing nicely, and he's crawling everywhere he wants to go. He's allowed to walk on it now, but he refuses. I guess it probably hurts, or he expects it to and he's not about to take a step on it. I can't say as I blame him!
Mik, Mal and Nick have a little spot at Mom's where they planted some pepper plants, I hope they grow 10 feet tall and have gigantic peppers on them!

Mom called me day before yesterday morning, she said Papaw wasn't doing well at all - he was moaning, carrying on in pain, just doing poor, feeling miserable. I hate it when he's feeling like that, and I dreaded the day for him. I got busy here and in a couple of hours she called and Juel, you'll never dream what he's doing now. Tentatively I said, crying? I just expected him to be in a bad way.. but No.. he was sitting up in his chair, eating.
He'd woken up miserable, fallen to sleep again, then woke up feeling good and said he was so hungry he could eat a bear. Keep in mind he's not eaten much aside from some tomatos, a piece of potato and marshmallows since June 4. His last meal was on June 3, and he had roast beef then. Mom fixed him ham and eggs and toast and coffee and he cleaned his plate. He's something else. :)
(Hey! Ky went to safe cigarettes, I must have one now.. cuz while I was typing this I forgot I was smoking and when I picked it up it was out.. it happened twice now with this cigarette, how neat.. and I can't even tell a difference in the taste!)
Anyway, here are some pics of him enjoying his meal..
Sarah visited with him and I got a pic, he seemed to enjoy that visit.

I didn't get many pics of the girls the past few days, I'll post some soon, I've just been busy and will have to stop slacking. I'm so lazy!
I saw something this evening. I was sitting out back with Sarah, we were just talking away and then I glanced over towards the neighbors backyard. It's a hill, and beside their hill, their other neighbors just did a lot of dozier work. They took down all the trees on their hill, and had the dirt taken out to make their backyard bigger. The result is that I can't see the woods there anymore, just a steep section of incline where the hill has been cut.
There on top of that steep incline was something that looked about 8 feet tall from where I sat. It was walking very fast on two feet, hunched over a little bit at the waist, and covered from head to foot in long white hair that turned darker, to gray from its torso on town its legs. I sat there quietly studying it, not really registering what I was seeing. It was big. I'm guessing 400 pounds or more big. And fast. My mind raced the full half a minute it took it to get from the start of the incline on into the woods and gone. What the hell was that? A Sasquatch! A Bigfoot! Those things are bullshit aren't they? But it sure did look like a werewolf from the old black and white movies. Must be someone in a Halloween suit. But it was so big. Do we have white bears around here? But it was walking on two legs. Upright. So fast.
Before I could speak, Sarah did.. "Mom what the hell was that?"
"Did you see it too?" I wasn't ready to talk about it, I was still watching the woods behind my own house, I was curious to see if the thing would come out back into our garden.
There's a monster in your backyard.
About that time, Bonnie and Kelly showed up and we just went around front to greet them - I walked up on the porch and then looked at Sarah. I figured my old eyes must have played a trick on me, so I asked Sarah what it was she saw back there. I didn't tell her what I saw, I wanted to see if we matched.
We did. She saw the same thing. How curious. Bonnie was chomping at the bit to get up in the woods, she wanted to see if she could see it. She grumbled about being pregnant and always missing out on seeing the good stuff. We sat out back on the patio for hours to see if it would come back, but it didn't.
I figure ever what it was wasn't aware the woods there are gone.. it had no choice but to walk spang out in the open where we could see it. I don't know what it was, but I sure don't wanna run into it out back in the dark.. all alone.
Yikes!
Sarah and Roy left Bon and Me out on the patio earlier, they took the girls to see Shrek 3 and they said it was a really good movie. I'll wait till it comes out on dvd to buy it. Ghost Rider comes out on dvd on the 12th.. it's a really good movie, I want to buy it for the girls, they loved it.
My sis:
Speaking of the girls, they're snoring. Sarah and Roy have gone fishing again.. I don't know when they'll be back but I'm not waiting up tonight. I'm tired.
G'nite World!
