Simpler Times

Are you goin' to Scarborough Fair.
Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme.
Remember me to one who lives there...
She once was a true love of mine.

Simon and Garfunkel.

Was anything ever as easy as they make it seem in their music?

Homeward Bound.. I wish I was.. homeward bound.
Home where my thoughts escapin'
Home where my music's playing,
Home, where my love lies waitin' silently for me..

*smiles sorta*

Yet.. the lyrics to Scarborough Fair don't make much sense.

Maybe they make things sound simple because they were too high to
give a rats ass.

Are you going to Scarborough Fair:
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme.
Remember me to one who lives there
She was once a true love of mine.

Tell her to make me a cambric shirt:
(On the side of a hill in the deep forest green)
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme.
(Tracing of sparrow on snowcrested brown.)
Without no seams nor needle work
(Blankets and bedclothes the child of the mountain)
Then she'll be a true love of mine.
(Sleeps unaware of the clarion call.)

Tell her to find me an acre of land:
(On the side of a hill a sprinkling of leaves)
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme.
(Washes the grave with silvery tears.)
Between the salt water and the sea strands,
(A soldier cleans and polishes a gun.)
Then she'll be a true love of mine.

Tell her to reap it with a sickle of leather:
(War bellows blazing in scarlet battalions)
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme.
(Generals order their soldiers to kill.)
And gather it all in a bunch of heather
(And to fight for a cause they've long ago forgotten.)
Then she'll be a true love of mine.

Are you going to Scarborough Fair:
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme.
Remember me to one who lives there
She was once a true love of mine.

What in the hell does this mean? If i have to be blown away to understand, I'm not interested. Hell with it. I'm going to bed.

Goodnight, world.

Fall Already

It's July 14, 2003.. and already Fall is in the air around here. The Circada's (Katy-Dids) have been chirring for over a week. The leaves on my Eisenhower trees are turning red. My Dogwood already has berries formed and they're fixing to turn red. My Japanese Peach trees (which turn opposite of others - in spring they're a rich deep purple, in fall they turn green) are already mostly green leafed.

Wasps are flying low to the ground.. and i finally remembered what that's supposed to mean. They're nesting low - meaning a bad winter.. they'll go below ground. To go above high, means they'd freeze. I'm pretty sure that's what Mamaw used to say..

I've not yet seen any birds flocked and headin' south, but I fully expect to every time I look into the sky.

Part of me wishes we could slow this down, start all over again from May and redo the summer. The other part of me is sort of looking forward to fall.. pumpkins, apple picking (I WILL TAKE THE BABIES THIS YEAR!), cool dark clouds, falling leaves, icy rain, candy apples, the festival, thanksgiving, christmas, then we can skip the rest of the winter and just jump right back into May! *laughs*

Okay, okay, I'll not rush what's left off.. we're still enjoying the summer, the pool, tho I have to confess, the water's still icy to me - it hasn't had a chance to get really warm from the sun yet this year.. *laughs* we've not had that much sun.

Such a Sweet Day

The weather was cloudy, cooler than it's been.. I just laid around watching television, old movies I'd bought years ago, when I didn't have time to watch them.. I'd put them up, telling myself I'll watch them when I'm old and have nothing else to do..

I watched "In the Line of Fire" (loved it!) and I watched the Dead Zone (again) and started to watch another one when Sarah called to see if I could watch the kids for her. She brought them over, and then later, she came to mom's where we were to pick them up.

Mal went willingly, but Mik wanted to stay all night with me, so Sarah let her. About 20 minutes after we got home, the phone rang. *laughs* It was Mallory.
"I want my MAAAAAAAAAMMY". she wanted to come stay too where sissy was.

Sarah brought her and now they're both sleeping after watching most of the Lion King.

It was a really sweet, relaxing day.. :)
