I've hated my hair for a while, it was long, but so damaged it wasn't pretty..and so just about 6 weeks ago, I asked Lisa if she'd shave it off. She scoffed, but when she saw that I was serious, she got the shears.
I sat there as she shaved it off, watching locks fall and oh I have to say that my head felt so damned good without the weight of all that hair!
I couldn't help but scoop up the fallen locks and I braided it and hung it here on my bedroom wall. Sarah came in from work last night, and she just noticed it hanging there and she said.. "Oh! Mom! Take that down! It looks so.. voodoo'ish!"
*laughs*
I won't do this again, the first week... my scalp felt so funny, so tight.. as if I was wearing a rubber band too tight, only I couldn't reach up to loosen it.. and I kept a headache the first two weeks.
Now, it's grown out pretty well, and it's laying nicely, well.. except for the cowlick at the part, and surely that will grow and stop doing that.. soon.
*prays*
It's a lot darker than I realized. Almost black. Dad said that it would grow back thicker, I thought he was kidding, but he was right. It's thick as can be and so very dark. Just like his.
I hope it's to my shoulders about Christmas time.
Mik and Mal love it.. they both said.. "grampaw?".. and they had to rub my "bald" head every 5 minutes the first couple of weeks, until it started growing back.
Thank God it's growing back!
I took down the green and white paper, and did one wall in postal paper. I tore the postal paper into shreds, no larger than 9 inches by 9 inches, in strange shapes, nothing particularly neat, and i just placed it in no random order. The result is so pretty! It looks like a pie crust, or cobbler crust. I got some apple border and put along the top of all 4 walls, and painted the other three walls white.
It looks so much bigger and it's so much brighter. However, finding other apple accessories is proving to be more difficult than I'd thought. Every where I looked the stores had apple this/ apple that... but now that I want it, aside from a couple of apple throw rugs, some apple place mats and dish towels, there's not an apple dish to be found.
I know! Ebay!! *laughs*
Good lord... time is truly flying, it was August just a minute ago.
Like a lightswitch, Labor Day came and went, and with it, summer weather. It's cool now, and I love it.. Fall's my favorite time of year. This summer hasn't been too terribly hot. We've gotten a lot more rain and thunderstorms than usual, so that wasn't so bad.
I'll blink and it'll be Christmas time.
We took them to the zoo a while back, they had a wonderful time. Nick went with us and he seemed to enjoy himself as well..
Nick's back in school now, and school has started too, for Sarah. The current training class at her new job is running behind a week, so she's not going to be able to take the next training class for another week, so she's not going to start on the 8th of Sept like she'd hoped, but a week later instead.
That sucks.. her new job is only going to be part time, with full time school, while this current job is full time with full time school, and it's just too much.
Too much for her, too much for the babies. I hope this last week and a half goes by fast.
The girls have caught colds, and shared with me, and mine's turning into bronchitis again. I get this every year and ugh, it's horrible. I hope I've caught it in time though, so it doesn't get as bad as it usually does.
We're all going to go to the apple orchard soon, preferably on Sunday, but I'm not sure if it's going to be tomorrow or next week. Tomorrow would be nice, it's supposed to be a beautiful day..I think Mik and Mal will have a blast out there pickin' apples.. I can see Mallory now, eating way more than she tosses into the baskets.
Lately, when I sleep, I have so many dreams it's hard to remember them all after I've wakened.
Most of them are about Joel in some form or another.
