Mallory Was Sick At School Today...
They called for us to come get her.. she'd thrown up and was sick at her stomach.. so.. she was here.. playing, eating, just fine, no temperature, she just wasn't sick here. I went to pick up Mikyla after school, and Mallory was just being picky.. tormenting Maegan, giggling, playing and finally, exasperated, I said, "Mallory, you sure don't seem sick to me.. I don't understand why you came home early from school..."
She informed me with her upper lip curled, remembering why...
"I am not sick. I puked... but it wasn't because I'm sick."
"Then why did you puke?"
"I puked because Hannah sneezed a booger out and then she showed it to me, then she wiped it on my lunchbox."
Godamighty.. I'd-a puked too!

Papaw
He played the French Harp for us today, and I got some of it on a video.. that was pretty cool.. then later, he sang "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes" by George Jones with me. I was sorty enjoying him singing that one with me so I didn't grab the camera to get a video of that one.. but anyway, here he is playing his harmonica...
Mardi Gras Beads!

Mikyla's Party at Mom's
Mom didn't get to come to the park, she was sick, but she had dinner and cupcakes at her house today. I'm glad you're feeling better, Mom, and thank you for Mik's special day today!
That kid racked up this year.. she got an ipod, her own razor cell phone, the real baby alive..3 or 4 other nice dolls that eat, poop, and other things like that..
clothes, toys, money.. thank you everyone for making her birthday so nice!

I have 2 New Favorites on T.V.
I love watching "Deadliest Catch" on The Discovery Channel, just love it! And "The Tudors" on Showtime. No.. I didn't get the Satellite, I stayed with Cable. I was scared I'd mess up time if I got Dish Network.. that little rewind box worried me. They said I could rewind anything I missed and watch it again...and I just knew I was gonna jack up the whole system.. everyone would be looking for the Tudors on at 10, and there I'd been rewinding this, and rewinding that, and run the Tudors behind...then I'd never find the time that it was on and piss off all the other subscribers for messing it up. *shivers* That's too much power for me!
Ugh.. Bronchitis, an old friend...
...is making it's way through the family like wild fire. Visiting here.. there.. everywhere. Now Mom has it.. and Lisa and Nick. Ugh.. I'm sorry!

After School Today...
...the girls wanted to go to the park. They heard Bonnie say she was taking Joel, so I thought okay, why not. So we loaded them up and started out.. but.. it started raining. They didn't like that, but I wasn't gonna let them get out even though by the time we got there it was just drizzling, and warm.. so warm.. ohh please Mammy it's not raining much.. sad eyes, frowny mouths.. tempting, but nooo.. we went for a ride instead, hoping it would stop so they could get out and play awhile.
We went to Mayhew Cemetery to see if we could find a grave for someone in South Carolina.. found it.. then we went through the city cemetery.. got the shot with the doll, and then (thank goodness) it stopped drizzling long enough to let the kids get out and play for a while. We pretty much had the park to ourselves...that was nice.. *laughs* It told me others had much more sense than we did. Still... the kids enjoyed it.

I watch Mallory play. She's always seems at full throttle..even though we try to get her to go slower, she just can't seem to remember to slow down.. go easy, take her time.. it's just got to be fast, no looking before leaping, she reminds me of that Reba Macintyre song, "That Little Girl I knew." (I think that's the title - something like that, anyway.) Red faced from being warm from her exertions, shining eyes, that triumphant smile, she just can't go slow.. (I can't drive..55!) I sometimes wonder how she is when we're not watching her to remind her to slow down. She's like a wild horse chomping at the bit, it's like..even tho to me she's still going full throttle, she's not even half way there and is just dying to pump it up... She wears me out just watching her!

Just Late Night Blatherings...
I've managed to catch Mallory's bronchitis and I can't lay down for coughing. Bleah! I can't grumble too much though, I've managed to get thru most of the winter without so much as a cough.
5 more days until Mikyla's 7th birthday. I can't believe how fast time's flying. They're all growing so fast, time is flying. She still mimicks everything I do, but now she's trying to smoke, I have to do something about that, I have to quit these things. She'll say Mammy, just let me have a puff.. just one puff. I won't of course, but sometimes I wonder if that old tv mom trick would work, the one where you make them smoke a pack so that they get too sick to ever want another one. I just have to quit. Oh God how am I going to do that?
The other night I dreamed my cousin passed away. They called to tell me, and to say that she asked to be buried in my front yard. I said sure, and we put her over by the big white rock.. So strange.. I used a white metal head and foot board from a bed, for her headstone and foot stone, and I put flowers all in the middle so that it looked like a blanket. Weird.
The weather here has been beautiful for the past couple of days. Nights get a little cool, but it's not bad. Maybe summer will get here after all.
Bonnie called and talked for a long time tonight. She tickled me.. They're doing pretty well.. Kelly bought her that car, now he's working on getting her and Joel a house. I'm so glad they're happy. Kelly had Joel over here the other day...Joel kept calling him Daddy. Bonnie will know in 4 weeks what the new baby will be. If it's a boy she says she's thinking about the name Tristan.. and if it's a girl, Virginia.
I'm sitting here, the house is quiet, but Maegan is making little noises from time to time. I hope she's just teething and isn't getting sick. She usually sleeps pretty soundly.
Everything's going well at Mom's. She and Dad went shopping today, and Lisa took Papaw and Nick up to Dorothy's to fish. She said they all had a good time, and that Dorothy is all better now after her surgery.. that's good to hear. I was there night before last and helped Mom get Papaw to bed, bless his heart, his legs are so stiff, I can't believe he gets around as well as he does, I sit here at the computer for 20 minutes anymore and I'm too stiff to move. I can't imagine being 83 years old and trying to walk. Mom's got him one of those Power Chairs on the way. He should get it this week, then he can race around the yard with the kids and their 4 wheeler and Escalades. I think he'll like that.
Sarah called, said they should be home Thursday, they're going to ride in with someone else.. split the gas and save some money. Mik's gonna have a good birthday, she's excited that they're coming in for her party. Her heart is set on a metal set of monkey bars, but I've not been able to find any. Looks like Roy could weld her a set, doesn't it? I found some on ebay but they cost a small fortune. If I could get some, I'd never have to take them to the park again, they only go for the monkey bars. Wouldn't that be nice? :)
There was a little gray kitten, a stray at Mom's about a year ago.. she didn't want it, so I brought it here. We thought it was a boy.. but she's so pregnant now, I swear she's a foot wide. She looks like Garfield after a big meal, only a different color. I wouldn't be surprised if she had 15 kittens. She's been trying to get into the van all week, she's wanting to have her babies in there. We've had to get her out countless times, but looking around here, there's not really any place she can have them where the dogs or other cats or critters can't get them, soooo she's in the pet taxi in the den now. She feels safe there hidden behind a towel hanging over the entrance. Won't that tickle the kids, a box full of kittens! Meow!
Lord above I hate these bifocals. Next time I go, I'monna get two pairs.. one for the top prescription and one for the bottom. Crickin' My neck way back so I can see the monitor sucks. Who invented these hellish things, anyway?
Well, it's 2:30 and I'm so dang tired I can't see straight. I'm gonna try to go get some sleep. Wish me luck! G'nite, world!

Happy Birthday, Dad!!
Sarah, I wish you'd been here, you'd have had a ball.. he knew we were having dinner, but he had no idea he'd have to wear a hula skirt. *laughs* He's gonna call John and tell him we took him to Hawaii for his bd. He really enjoyed that, we all did. Here's some pics for ya, so you don't grumble at me tomorrow.
He got a few gifts to open, but mostly he got his favorite thing... money and lottery tickets.. and I think he won on a lot of them too because he was putting quite a few of them in his shirt pocket instead of in the losers pile!

Make Up
The girls wanted makeovers this weekend.. and so we got out the make up and had some fun with it..
Roanoke Virginia
When I was about 7.. I remember getting several post cards from someone in Roanoke.. I recall one in particular.. it had a photo of a church on the front.. and the card said it was "The Little Country Church - Roanoke Virginia"
It was odd because I didn't know anyone there. The cards came addressed to me, and someone had simply hand written short sentences on them.. "I miss you." "I wish you were here."
I remember looking at them thinking how creepy that was.. I never did find out who sent them, and they eventually stopped coming.
When I heard about the campus shooting there today, I remembered those post cards.
33 Dead.. 15 hurt.. that's just unbelievable. Why would anyone want to do something like that. My heart goes out to the victims and their families.

Dinner Tonight...
...went pretty well.. everyone ate except Dad, and I didn't know he can't like Garlic on his steak. I didn't know! Oh well.. I'll know next time. ;)
This is the first time I ever recall Papaw coming to my house to eat.. I didn't really think he'd come, but sure as the world he was here, and he ate too!
Mallory decided to pick on him.. she wouldn't leave the poor guy alone. *laughs*
He got cold, so Dad helped him zip his jacket up.. I thought that was sweet.
Papaw got tickled when Dad told him that help from him was like the blind leading the blind.. poor Dad...
Mom got Maegan some new boots.. she sure enjoyed that.. she kept changing them and made us all make over them at least 100 times tonight.. she's so funny...:)
I had a really good time.. I'm glad you all got to come over tonight!
God I'm glad it's Friday. It's getting cold now, and raining.. It's supposed to rain here all week. Mallory's home now, and the kids are ready for bed. I love this time of night. Gonna head out now and find something to get into.

One Shot...

Things are going pretty well around here... had a bit of a scare today, but all's well that ended well, thank God! Mom, I'm glad everything's okay. :)
*gasp* I'm hungry, I want an inch thick, rolled in flour, fried piece of pork tenderloin with a quarter inch of fat fried crisp all around the edge. *laughs*
or...if you're buying tomorrow, 7 krystals.. if I'm buying, I think I'll just get 3.
Maegan and I went with Mom and Papaw shopping this morning - Maegan and Mom went one way (towards the groceries and those coolers were cold!) so, instead of freezing, Papaw and I went the other way where it was warmer. He had me searching all over the place for a "Fraynch Horp" He wouldn't tell me what that was, just to find it.. and the killer was.. 100 years ago, I knew what a Fraynch Horp was.. and just seconds before he instructed me to ask a clerk if they had them, I remembered.. a Harmonica.
I've never heard him play, but he insists he can. I'll have to go over there tomorrow and have him show me.
Have you ever pushed a big man around in a wheelchair in a Walmart Supercenter? He doesn't like the foot rests on his chair, and I'm rolling him along that nice smooth floor, then all of a sudden, he puts on the breaks, and he puts his feet down and when I get up from the floor after I go flying over top of him, I scowl and tell him to let me know the next time he's gonna put on the breaks, he just cackles. I took my camera, but forgot to get any photos while we were out.

Mean Kids
Mallory tried to make friends with a couple of kids who were there while we were.. she tried to swing on the tire swing with them and they told her to get lost. She was crushed. The poor thing. They left after a while and she had the swing to herself. I felt bad for her.. some kids are just mean.
A Good Talkin' To...
Sometimes I do or say something that doesn't set right with neither Mallory nor Mikyla.. the other day was one of those times. I can't really remember what offence I managed to commit, but I remember Mallory chewing me out for it.. I remember her scolding made me laugh. When I laughed, her eyes got all thundery, her mouth was just a little slash in her face and she said..
Look at me Mammy, look real close. Am I laughing? No, I am not.
I wish I could remember what it was she was vexed at me over... the little smarty pants..

Easter Sunday
Lisa, dinner was deeeelicious! Thank you, and thank you all for the Easter gifts, Mom...we loved them!! In Mom's Yard

Triumph!!!!
This Wisteria is at least 12 years old. I got it a year or two after we moved here..and I've done EVERYthing to coax it to bloom. Every year.. lots of leaves, but no blooms. I got online, read everything I could on this plant and tried EVERYthing they suggested.. but still.. year after year.. no blooms. But.. today.. lo and behold, there are two bunches of flowers on it! I was thrilled!!

Mom had to come see them for herself.. she knew how much I'd fuss every spring when the blasted plant just hung there doing nothing... and vintage Mom.. says.. (while giving a hearty 'harumph') "Godamighty Juel... I can't believe you got so excited over two such scrawny blooms."
I did!! I did get very excited over these blooms.. granted.. they're VERY scrawny.. but.. *coughs* I've waited over a dozen years to see them!

For Sarah & Bonnie
I tell ya.. I've never seen you scared of a storm before Bonnie.. I felt bad for you.. especially when you called saying you couldn't get ahold of your landlady to go to her basement.. nothing was on the scanner yet.. and I'd no more than hung up when the sirens started. The scanner started. All hell broke loose.. it was awesome!
A funnel cloud had been spotted in Clay county, so I figured Bon would have time to get here.. so I called and told her so.. I've never seen a storm like that one. I'm guessing that when she was on her way over here, the wind hit just a couple of blocks from us, tore the roofs off of a trailor in the park on that side of us, and tore the roof off of Doyle Jean's home less than a mile from us on the other side of town. Down Mom's road was the worst.. we couldn't have been gone from there 10 minutes when it hit there. Look at those electric poles in the photos.. I'd have been scared to death if we'd driven by those as that was happening. Anyway, we're all safe, it's like it circled us completely. I'm glad it didn't do any damage here.

Papaw's Gifts...
Papaw went shopping today and bought Mom and me some yard pretties! I think this log with eyes is cute as can be. I'll get another shot of the eyes on it after dark, I bet it's nice and spooky! *laughs* When Dad sees one legged birds... he thinks of me. When Sarah sees devastation in Mississippi.. she thinks of me. And when Papaw sees spooky tree trunks with glowing eyes...he thinks of me too. Hehe!! I love it!! Thank you Papaw!
