We got a note from the principal, one of those copy machine notes all the kids get.. "No more peanut products.. ours is a peanut free school.. no snicker bars, no peanut butter, peanut butter days are over." You get the idea..
Mallory takes.. well.. used to take a peanut butter sandwich about 3 days a week. She loves them for lunch. Now it's tuna. Every day.
Last night I was bored with making her tuna, checked for something else she might like, and in the cabinet I found some potted meat. She used to love potted meat, so I figured, okay, this will be different, and I made her a nice big fat potted meat sandwich.
*laughs*
While we were doing homework after the trick-or-treating, I remembered it and asked her..
Me: Mal, how did you like your sandwich today at lunch?
Mal: (with a grimace) Yuck! I don't like potted meat anymore, it was nasty looking. I didn't eat it!
Me: Oh no! I'm sorry!
Mal: I tried to trade it, but no one wanted it. I tried to give it to Nathan (remember the little guy with bad breath who's never happy?) but he wouldn't take it. I even told him it was smashed ham but he still wouldn't take it.
All I know to do now is to stock up on Tuna.

Town was PACKED!

For the first time since he was born, I didn't get to spend Halloween with Nick. He was there in town, but we didn't see him. He was in a talent contest, the cheerleading dance he did with the other football players was their talent, but I don't know if they won anything or not. We must have left before the show started. I didn't find out he was in it until we got home tonight. Nick, Lisa, I missed you!!
He was dressed as the devil, but he was the best one there. No crying, not a peep, he slept the whole time!

Joel's costume was awesome! Some guy was taking pics for the newspaper and took one of him. He asked Bon Joel's name and age, told her he was gonna be in the paper this week. How cool is that?

That walk to get candy seems to get longer and longer as I become.. as a friend of mine puts it, "more refined". This year I was so tempted to just bribe them with 20 bucks worth of candy from Walmart! I wanted to be the Grinch who stole Halloween! *laughs* We went though, and I ended up having a good time watching them. They had a ton of fun and got lotsa candy. :) The first stop was to Mom's, to show her their costumes. :)

Mikyla got to start the cheer the very first time, and then again and again. She HATES starting them off, but I love it!! She did such a good job! Then later when the kittens danced, Mal did a good job too. They make me so proud I just can't hardly stand it! The girl's basketball team won by one point. That was a really good game!

Poor Maegan got hit in the face by an out of control basketball.. what a shock to her, to be just sitting there minding her own business when out of nowhere kaBAM! Poor baby!

Matt! Yes, you, Myrtle! Bonnie told me you read here just about every day. I didn't know that, what about you! Anyway, hello there! And hi to you too, Brittany!
Shannon! I'm glad you got your furnace in, it's getting cold!! I wish we could have a bonfire for Halloween for the kids, but Mikyla wont let me, she wants to go trick-or-treating.. booo, I'm too old to get any candy, that sucks!! Now I have to walk my legs off taking them out, and I get zip! Boooooo!!
Christopher! I haven't said hi to you lately, I get it too big of a rush trying to code these photos on here. But.. I do think about you often, hope you and your family are doing well. :) Love you!
Meli! I haven't said hi to you here in a while too. I'm a sloth!! I love ya!
How do you like those Jungle Gym Pics, Mom? *laughs* I couldn't help it, had to post them!
Jana! I hope you had a great weekend!
Nikki, I pretty much can tell how you're doing, just by watching Bonnie with Joel and Tristan. *laughs* Bless your heart!
Don!! I didn't mail you the pics I promised, I couldn't find them. But.. yesterday I sat down and went through my CD's and did find them for you finally. I double promise to get them in the mail to you in the morning! Honest! Love you!
Lon Jr... I don't know how often you read here, but since you knew about the
"little heads", I assume you do read sometimes.. so hello there! Hope you're doing alright. :) Love you too!
Tiffany! I do miss you too! I miss literati too! Let's play!
Holly I haven't heard from you since your cat died. Hope you're doing alright. :)
Okay, I'm out of here.. school in the morning and I gotta get some sleep. Love you all, be safe!!
*laughs*
Bon, found this on the camera and I just KNEW you must have wanted it for some reason or the other!
Look at the pretty things Shannon left at the cemetery for Dad.

Bless your heart, Shannon that was sweet of you. Thank you so much - when someone else remembers Dad, it just makes my heart do flip flops with happiness. I love you, thanks again.
Mik got her student of the month certificate..and their wall just keeps getting fuller and fuller. Cool, isn't it!

Damn him! I got another avatar for it, but I've had that pet pet for years.. they could have just left my pet pet alone and kept their avatar! Sheesh!

She kept saying, oh I hate these! Oh these are too dangerous! Oh the kids will get hurt on these! The next thing I knew, she was scampering spang on top of it! *laughs* Gooo... Mom!

brought in the yard toys they bought back in the spring. It tickled the girls to death. Mom, Lisa and Nick came over yesterday and helped me and Dips put them together. Sarah, Roy, you missed out on the fun. It wasn't hard to do at all, they were just heavy! Now all we have to do is sand them down some and paint them. The kids LOVE them!

This was at the game last week. I just now got time to post them. They did such a good job. Way to go, Girls!!

How rich would I be, if this cat had little Fudgelets?

P.S. Fudge is a boy. So is the cat.
Hello to all of you I haven't left howdys to in a while. :)
California is burning. Not a little but a whole heck of a lot. They're calling it "Super Katrina" referring to the homeless and damaged property. I have to say they've sure handled this disaster better than those in Louisiana. As of earlier today there were only 2 dead. Almost a million people evacuated, and only 2 fatalities. That in itself is amazing. The shelters are full, they have very ordered and well stocked shelters for their citizens.
I keep being amazed. California folks are different too in the way they're handling themselves on the interviews with the news anchors, I'll be damned... inevery single interview I've seen, they're smiling. They're standing there in robes, nightclothes, borrowed clothes, just.. smiling. Very polite, very greatful to have gotten out safely.. and so far not one of them have been crying or hysterical.
I'm sure there've been, there has to be some out there who can't cope very well, doesn't there? Maybe you all have seen them, but I haven't. I was watching last night, supposing that by being in a state which is full of cameras and movie stars, maybe that's second nature to them, no matter what, if you see a camera, flash those pearly whites! I admire them.
God bless you all, my heart goes out to you.
I was watching television, just flipping through channels, couldn't sleep last night... found The Twilight Zone on the SciFi channel. "The Midnight Sun". I saw that episode when I was young, and it was still just as creepy. The planet was moving closer and closer to the sun, everyone was frying, there was no food, not much water, ugh... what a thought.
Constantine was on FX, but I didn't watch it. I caught it too late, I hate watching movies from the middle. Someone hard to watch a movie with, is Mom. I dont think she's sat through more than 3 movies in her entire life. She gets so bored with them. Lisa, she has good taste in movies. We can watch them together for hours. Good horror movies - Bonnie too. Dippy though runs, he can't like those. He cries at love stories too. "The Notebook" tore him all to pieces. I liked that one, so did Mom. It was one of the three I know she watched in her life. She liked "Dragonfly" too, as did I. Dad was into action thrillers. Bruce Willis was "the man". Dad had a soft side too though, he liked romance and war. He was in heaven when they came out with "Pearl Harbor" several years back. That held his number one favorite spot for years, until just more recently he took a shine to "The Guardian". I liked all of those movies.
Still, it's about time they come out with some new spooky movies for Halloween. I'm getting tired of seeing all of these over and over again.
Maegan has taken to calling Mikyla "Mommy". She's been doing it for a few days now, and the more she does it, the more she's learning that if she does call Mikyla "Mommy" the things that Mik wouldn't normally let her have or do, suddenly are accessable to her. Mikyla, as "Mommy" can't find the heart to tell Maegan "No!" or "Stop that!" Maegan is so smart. :)
Sarah and Roy are on the way in tonight, should be here in the morning to take care of some business, they're bringing the girls some yard equipment but after they take care of what they're taking care of they're heading straight back. It's iffy that they're going to stay and see the girls, so we're not telling the girls they're coming in. Sarah said that the area where they are is full of that staph infection and she doesn't want to risk giving it to the girls. I would rather she don't either. I don't want to have to explain to them why Sarah and Roy didn't stay. That MRSA business wont wash with them. Sarah and Roy don't want to explain either. As for "How did this get here?" of the yard toys. I'm not sure. I think the stork musta brought it. Reckon they'll go for that? Now that they're having this fire in California, I'm waiting to see if Sarah and Roy are going to head there to work. We'll see.
Joel spent the night with us last night. He was really good.. he stayed until about three this afternoon, finally he was ready to go home to play with Mommy and Tristan. He didn't get in trouble one time! Mallory was the instigator last night, she kept picking on him, but I kept catching her. Ha!
Tomorrow is "boot" day at school. All the kids have to wear boots, to say "Give Drugs the Boot!" We got them new winter boots for the occasion.
My camera battery wont charge anymore. It's been on the charger since last night, but when I went to take some pics of Tristan today it started blinking. I got about 20 shots out of the juice that was in it, but now it's just gone. Damned thing drives me nuts. I'll have to get another one now, I can't stand it without a camera. It's not the battery, it's something in the camera that wont let any batteries charge. Did the same thing about this time last year. But then it was still under warrantee. Hey, isn't that odd.. same problem, same time of year. Maybe it's allergic.
As I was lying there last night, trying to sleep, an old Jim Croce song floated through my memory..
If I could save Time in a bottle
The first thing that I'd like to do
Is to save every day
'Til Eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you
I was thinking really hard on those words. First, I thought, I'd give the days to Mom.. because she's the oldest of us and could use them more than the rest.. but then I thought, nah, she's wanting to go be with Dad, giving her that many extra days would be counter productive and she'd really hate that. Then who, who would I save all those days up for? Mikyla? No, she'll grow up, find a love, get married and want to spend her days with him.. she could have them if there's no "non transferable" clause, so she could spend them with Him, not me. But .. just in case, I'd hate to do that to her.
Who then. Not Dad. He's not here anymore to give them to. That's a technicality. Lisa? Maybe, I don't know though how she'd feel about spending an eternity of days with me. Sometimes we grate on each other's last nerve. That would be quite a bad experience after a few hundred years of days, I'm sure of it.
Stan? No, I couldn't do that to him either. He is a firm believer in heaven, and really wants to go. Who could I give those days to.. It occurred to me. It would be more perfect if I could give them to someone I didn't like. A punishment. *laughs* That'd be the best thing.
If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I'd save every day like a treasure and then,
Again, I would spend them with you
Such sweet words, such tender sentiment. I just.. I can't think of a single soul I'd put through that, nor anyone I dislike enough to do it to either...
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go
Through time with
Croce died so young, didn't he. He was sure right about the "there never seems to be enough time to do the things you wanna do once you find them..." part though, wasn't he?
If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty
Except for the memory
Of how they were answered by you
I really like that song. Don't you?
Something else I was obsessing about last night. Bush. He's pissin' me off. Again. He wants to start a freedom fund.. send it to the citizens of Cuba. Good God. And I bet I know what's going on behind those little bitty beady eyes of his. He's probably thinking we could take it out of Social Security funds. He's been itching to get at that money from the get go. Stuff that idea Bush, if you want to start a fund to help someone, we've got folks in California right now who could sure use it.
Too, I did want to address "Restless Leg Syndrom". Stan has this, and it's horrible. I saw a comedian, can't remember who it was, but he had me cracking up, mimicking folks who were just minding their business, doing their jobs, or whatever they were doing when suddenly interrupted by a bout of Restless Leg. That was so funny.
I do wonder where this malady came from. We really didn't hear of it when I was a kid, I never heard Mamaw or Papaw or any of the older aunts or uncles complain that their legs just wanted to do their own thing after the sun set. Kind of like an odd form of vampirism. Must be something in the air, or that wax they put on fruit. Something. Stan's is so bad I stopped sleeping with him years ago. He'd literally run in his sleep, the bottom of the sheets would be shredded in the morning. Literally to ribbons. So peculiar. He didn't have it one night, the next he did. Like..something possessed his legs. Aliens. That's it, they're coming to get us and what better way than to control us through our legs.. Look! It's Aliens! Run! And you can run, but you can't escape, because your legs just automatically take you straight to the Mother Ship.
Stan has another malady. RTS. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's Restless Toupee Syndrom. It will Not stay put no matter what he does. At night, it has a mind of its own. One time it'll be on the pillow beside him, the next it's on the floor, once it was stuck spang in the center of his back! The poor darling. Requip doesn't seem to help that. Maybe soon they'll come up with a pill to give him relief.
Oh I could go with this. It's just too easy.
This could be the reason so many men stray. It's not that they're immoral, or that they even want to. It could be as simple as having RPS. Restless Pecker Syndrom. Can you imagine trying to fight that without a pill? Poor guys.
Okay, I really do need to step away from that and move on. Forgive me if I offended anyone. I have a syndrom of my own, you realize... RIS (Restless Imagination Syndrom) It's a bitch too, let me tell ya.
I just really get tired of the Backyardagains (love it, just get tired of it from time to time) Ruby and Max - And God help me, sometimes I think if I have to watch Spongebob Squarepants one more time I'm going to go absolutely nuts. That's when the old SIR kicks in and I have no control of where my mind takes me to get away from those cartoons. And late night wake fests? I'm a lost cause. There hasn't been any studies done on folks like us that I know of. There's no help out there for me.. I'm sorry.
Right quick, while it's on my mind, have you ever really sat and watched Ruby and Max? Dang that author has little boys DOWN PAT! Give it a watch sometime and see if she doesn't!
I have to go. It's late. G'nite world.. rest well! Love you all.
Fudge met Jack over at Mom's the other day.

Again, I watched him bully a dog 6 times his size - and thought it odd because the cats still whip up on Fudge and steal his food. The dog's an enigma.

I was worried Jack might hurt Fudge...

Fudge just kept circling Jack, peeing all around him, like daring Jack to object..then scratching the grass all arrogantly with all 4 paws, jumping straight up into the air, the little shit was trying to imtimidate Jack

Jack wussed out.

Fudge was satisfied then. Dang dog.
Is just blooming and blooming. I got it for him for Father's day year before last. I'm glad it survived the drought.

It was so nice to see! A good slow drizzle for over 2 hours. Boy did we need that. It did sprinkle after that off and on all day.. and they're giving some vicious winds for us late in the night. Be careful out there tonight everyone!
I love ya.. Stay safe!
when you dream about bashing someone's head into a brick wall or an iron poll, killing a guy and then either filing his spine or chewing into it from the back of the victim's neck?
Bon and I both had similar dreams, mine was night before last and Bon's was last night.
Different victims though, both male.. what on earth would make us dream something like that, reckon?
(No, we've not watched any movies together or read any books lately either)
was visiting me for a while, Bon brought him and Tristan and then when they started to leave, I walked out with her to help put Joel into the car. On his way though, he fell down and scraped his knee.
I helped him into the car, he was crying and I felt sorry for him. I leaned over to hug him and whispered, "Come back later for some ice cream, okay?"
He Nodded, and said, "Get off me!"
This tea is so good, so relaxing after a hectic day...
*munches on a chocolate stick*
sometimes I feel so...unappreciated, so..
*puts on her new tee shirt, smooths it, admires the pretty colors*
..so..forgotten, so...
*glances at the other wonderful gifts shelf beside her*
*blows towards the windchimes to hear them tinkle*
so.. left out and ...
*rubs some lotion on her hands, then applies lip balm to her lips*
LOVED! Thank you so much, you're wonderful! That was the neatest box! Mom was standing there all googley eye'd loving it as much as I was and said to say thank you for her syrup too.
Thank you for everything, I truly enjoyed that.
*pours a tad more meade into the tea*
I reaaaally really did!
*laughs*
She and Lisa came here to wait for Nick to get out of a school dance tonight, and while waiting we got to just sitting around the table talking, and she suddenly remembered that she'd somehow been cleaning the door (inside) of her dishwasher. Did I say INSIDE? There was mold on hers. Now mind you this is on the very bottom, of a lip, on the inside of her dishwasher. I said wow, I never thought to look there before. That's sort of like washing my lightbulbs, and electrical wiring - not high on my list of things I MUST DO NOW! So she just gave me the look and she got a dish cloth and she opened my dishwasher and bent over and (oh I forgot, she had to take a knife and put the cloth around the knife) then she slid the knife along the inside of that lip and brought it back out and lo and behold, I too had mold in there! Ack!
I was so greatful to her! If she hadn't found that and gotten it out of there, my dishwasher may have come down with ovarian crystal or something equally distasteful! Thanks Mom, I truly do feel better knowing that's gone!
People! Really! Get in there and see, get it out! Just open the door, lean in, way in, and reach at the bottom, feel your way around and get that stuff out of there! Thanks, Mom!
...made me crack up laughing this evening. She said Mammy, today Nathan sat by me in gym and I had to ask him to move. I thought I was going to throw up.
Why, Mallory?
Because he had bad breath. So I said to him, Nathan, you're going to have to move away from me. But I didn't want to tell him why. I didn't want to hurt his feelings by saying Nathan move away, you have bad breath and it makes me want to puke...but Nathan wouldn't move away, so I had to tell him why.
You told him he had bad breath?
Yes. I said Nathan I don't want to hurt your feelings but your breath stinks and it's making me sick. You have to go away. Go away from me.
Did he go?
Yeah, he went. He wasn't happy. Nathan's never happy.
I bet that didn't make his disposition any sunnier either!
Nathan! If you wanna sit by Mallory, dang boy, brush those choppers!
See you on Saturday! Don't forget to bring me a present. *laughs!* Just kiddin' - juuuust kiddin'... I have one for you. :)
The girls got their cheerleading uniforms today and Mikyla ran in all excited, couldn't wait to try hers on. *laughs* Ohh she's so picky. If something doesn't feel right, or binds her, she will NOT wear it, absolutely wont. She ran and tried on her outfit and came out with thundery eyes.
"This is NOT right! It doesn't fit! It's too tight! It makes me look fat! It's choking me! I hate it, I'm not going. I'm not wearing this. No."
I coaxed and coddled her until she finally had the whole detested outfit on, including her socks (hates socks too) and shoes (too tight) and then somehow I managed to talk her into posing for a picture..

*coughs* You can see her enthusiasm. Still I coaxed.. Oh baby, you look beautiful, you look so thin in that top, honest, I dont lie to you honey, really you look so nice! Can you let me get another picture?
Of course she could.

Really, Mikyla.. you look terrific, I'd not say it to you if it weren't true, you look downright SKINNY! Pose again and I'll show you how you look? Sure!

By now I was getting worried that she truly wasn't gonna wear it, that she was just gonna quit. She would do just that too if it crossed her mind. So.. I told her that the only thing missing was a great big smile.. did she think she could smile for me to get a good picture? Sure!
*laughs*

By the time I finished coaxing her, telling her how wonderful she looked, bragging on how well she did her cheers, she was for real smiles. Thank goodness!

Ashley was there!

Their Nana took them to this game, and then took them out for pizza afterwards. They had a good time. Now they're safely in bed, all sleeping but for Maegan, who's hanging onto my chair like a chimpanzee, no doubt going to wake them back up because she wont be quiet! Eeep!
The girl's basketball team played their first Home game on Monday, and we went to watch Mikyla cheer. She did GREAT! Way to go, Mikyla!! Their uniforms hadn't come in yet so they wore jeans and a school tee-shirt with ribbons. That was pretty cute.

Mikyla and Mallory have lots of homework. Usually I can sit and help them through it, but for the life of me yesterday they wouldn't sit still, couldn't concentrate, just didn't want to do it.. soooo I called in the big gun. Granny!
She came over, took them home with her for a couple of hours, and when she brought them home, they had it all done. For the first time since she's been in first grade, Mallory brought home a hundred percent pre-test spelling paper today! Now she doesn't have to take the real test tomorrow! Way to go Mallory, and THANK YOU GRANNY!!
They poured Maegan's bag of balls into the trampoline and were jumping, just having a good time, when I noticed Fudge under it, following those balls. He wanted them soooo bad!

And finally...

I'm sorry I didn't answer your email sooner.. it's been a hectic week. I'm glad it's almost over. I'll tell Bonnie - they're both doing great, she's out and about now and he's already growing like a weed. His eyes say "old soul".. ever seen that?
Here's some pics. :)

See how he's looking adoringly at Mammy?

NOT! It's his bottle he loves!

I was keeping up with pics of Gracie, so pretty, but *coughsI'mlockedoutcoughs* I can't seem to get in anymore...
These 2 are from Lisa. One of the state guys who come to the lab where she works got these from a video camera in the woods out on Rt 119, towards Pineville. That's not too far from here. Anyway, at 2 diff times, the camera captured 2 different bears the same night! How cool is this?!

*laughs*
Now Pete, the question begs.. while walking in the woods, would you rather run into one of these bears, or..
this..

And the winners were....
Mikyla & Haley!! Don gave them the prize, FIVE dollars!! Congrats, Girls!!

And Josh won a consolation prize...

Don and Carol were in for the festival this year.. they enjoyed it and we enjoyed their company. Don had a barbeque for everyone at Mom's this evening and we had a great time! Thanks, Don, Carol, that was FUN!

Oh man, the food was good, thanks for having us Mom! Shannon got a lot of good stuff, she had a good time too. Happy Birthday again, Shannon!!

Maegan stole my chicken tastetest leg! Mikyla stole it from her! History repeats itself consistantly where test chicken legs are concerned!
Harumph!!

is going to be a cheerleader tonight at their powderpuff football game. It starts at 7:30, so we're going to have to fly to pick Mal up at 7:30 from her dance kitten's practice, to be over at Nick's game to watch him cheer. I can't wait to see that.
*laughs*
I can't wait to cheer for the cheerleader!
Can you smell the dumplins?! I can! Can't wait till dinner time.. see you at Mom's at 5!! Love ya!!!

Oh it was a good hard rain! It only lasted about 10 minutes, but we sure did need what we got! That was WONDERFUL!!
I got a frantic phone call about 12:30 yesterday afternoon. It was from Mallory's aunt Kristy who is a substitute teacher at Mallory's school. As it happens, she was substituting for Mikyla's teacher yesterday.
Juel! This is Kristy, we need you to come get Mallory, she's here in the nurses office and we think she's fixing to have a seizure!
Me Mouthing to Dippy - Go get Mallory now, in the nurses office! He flew out the door immediately to get her.
Kristy, she's not had a seizure in over a year, are you sure? What happened?
She's laying here on her side on the cot, her eyes are glazed and she's not answering anyone. They called me in here because she wasn't responding to the nurse and they thought if I told her I love her that she'd respond to me!
Is she responding?
No! She's just staring, we have a cold rag on her head, her face is flushed, but she's just in a daze!
I don't know unless I see her, Dippy's on his way now, he should be there in just a minute. She wasn't hit in the head by anything was she?
No, we asked that. She's not responding to anything.. just in a daze, we thought we better call you because the nurse never dealt with a seizure before. The gym teacher said she was just standing in the gym staring, not responding so he took her to the nurses office.
Kristy could you tell if she was putting on? Joel's here, she knew we were going to see the new baby, maybe she took it in her head to play sick to get to come home? I was hoping against hope, praying that's what it was, I so want Mallory off the Depakote because in the long run it can hurt her liver.. I want desperately to have the seizures behind her.. she's done so well up until this...
Did she have the red rings around her eyes?
No, I don't think she was putting on, the nurse said her sister has seizures and she thinks Mal's getting ready to have a Grand Mal and she'd rather Mal do that at home than there at school. She doesn't have red rings around her eyes though...
My mind kicked around what she'd just said a few moment's earlier about the nurse having not seen a seizure before and didn't want to, to that the nurse's sister has them ... Denial, denial, my mind was looking for anything to grasp onto to tell me that they were just mistaken, Mal's not having seizures again.. I knew tho my wires were probably crossed.. What I just heard on the phone was probably wasn't what Kristy was saying to me at all..
Alright, Dippy should be there in just a minute.
Ok good bye.
Good bye.
Dippy got back home with Mallory, she was fine, in fact I was cooking eggs and pancakes before Kristy's call, so I went ahead and made Mallory 2 eggs (fried juicy, that's how she likes them) and she sat down, chattering about school while she ate. I kept watching her, she just didn't seem post seizureish to me.
Dippy, was she responding when you got there?
Yep, she sat up, said hello to me, took my hand and we left to go sign her out.
Did she have a seizure?
I don't think so, I think she was just running in gym and got too hot, flushed...
I talked to mom for a few minutes, told her what happened, and she was as incredulous as I was.. Kristy doesn't really know Mallory, she sees her 3 or 4 times a year, maybe she just got scared... Yep, maybe Mom, I don't know what to think. She doesnt' have any of the signs that she's had or going to have a seizure, no red rings around her eyes, nothing's 'fizzling', she's not complaining of sore achy muscles, no crying, no lethargy, she's not sleepy, nothing...
Well, question her, ask her if she knows what happened...
We hung up and the phone rang again. It was Mallory's other grandmom.
Kristy called me but we're out of town, I can't come to Mallory, is she alright?!
Yes, she's eaten, she's playing now, there's no sign at all that she's had a seizure, we think she just got too hot in the gym...
I bet she had a Petite Mal seizure.. sounds like it because she was just staring, nonresponsive...
I don't know, Dianne, I've never seen a Petite Mal seizure on her, just the Grand Mal..
I'VE SEEN THEM, she had TWO at my house!!
Oh, well she's probably had them here too then but I just didn't notice or know what I was looking at. She stares but I say Mallory stop that and she stops and giggles...
Kristy said Mallory was in gym and just started staring, wouldn't respond to the gym teacher so he took her to the nurse, she wouldn't respond for her so the nurse called for Kristy, thought that if Kristy told her she loved her Mallory would respond to that, but Mallory just stared, she was dazed and non responsive to everyone.
Well, she seems fine now, I'll watch her, and if anything happens I'll call you...
It was just so odd.. Mom was right, it was time to question Mallory.
Honey do you remember what happened to you today?
Yep, I was running in gym, playing and I got hot.
Did you have a seizure, or feel like you were going to have one?
No, I just got hot and started sweating. We went to get some water and I told Ms. Gray (Not my teacher Ms. Gray but the other Ms. Gray) that I didn't feel good.
Do you remember how you got to the nurses office?
Yeah, Ms. Gray took me.
Mallory, when the nurse was trying to talk to you, did you talk back to her?
Insert a few sneaky giggles here.
No. I didn't talk back to her.
Why not Mallory? You heard her?
Yeah, but I was scarin' her. It was fun. She looked real scared. So I didn't say anything to her.
You didn't answer her on purpose? To scare her?
Yeah, I'm sorry, but it was funny. More giggles, eyes lowered though, she was a tad ashamed.
Mallory, honey, they thought you were having a seizure, that wasn't funny, it scared them. You are going to be able to get off that medicine in one more month, but not if you have a seizure.. you can't pretend just to scare people.
I'm sorry Mammy, it was just funny.
Well did you hear Kristy when she came to say she loved you?
Yeah.
You didn't answer her either?
No, I was scarin' her too.
Oh Mallory, that wasn't nice. Don't do that again.
Later, we went to pick up Mikyla from cheerleading practice. The gym teacher was in the parking lot and so Dips went to ask him what happened with Mallory, if she'd truly been unresponsive with him. He said no, she was just flushed and told Ms. Gray she didn't feel well so he told Ms. Gray to take her to the nurse's office. The rest, well, since Mal was on the money with the gym teacher, I choose to take her word for it that she was just 'scaring' the nurse and Kristy. I hate that she did that to them, but I'm sure glad she's alright.
I watched her all evening, truly she was acting fine.. but again, I'm afraid, what if.. just in case.. oh Lord please, don't let that be happening again... All evening she ate, ran, played, and faught with the other kids, just like always. No sleepy seconds, no empty looking eyes, she studied for the spelling bee and did great. I just don't know what happened, but Thank God she is okay. She's at school right now, and no calls, so I guess today is going well..
She's a sight.. just.. scaring them cuz it was funny. Egads.
Mom was a volunteer teacher's aid for Mikyla in first grade, until Papaw came to live with her. She's thinking now about going back for Mallory. Just to watch and be sure Mal's doing alright. I sure hope she does.. that would be wonderful! I told Sarah that Mom might go back and she was tickled to death.
*crosses her fingers*
Goooo Mom!!

We took Joel to see his little brother yesterday, and to take his mommy some roses from him. But when we got there, they'd just taken her down to surgery. She's decided not to have any more babies.
He left his roses on her bedside table and we went to see Tristan. Kelly went to the nursery and rolled Tristan to the door but he almost got tackled by a nurse who informed him that he wasn't allowed to be in the nursery like that, that when he wanted to see Tristan he had to let her know first. She looked like she wouldnt' have had a hard time tackling him either. He put his hands in the air and said, "I didn't know.".. anyway, Joel got to see Tristan, and the nurse asked him if he wanted to give Tristsan a kiss.. "No.".. would you like to touch his hand? "No." Then lightening fast, Joel reached out and poked Tristan's arm. *laughs* They better keep a close eye on those boys. Joel looked more like a cowboy fixin' to shoot a rattler than a loving brother meeting a new sibling.
Bonnie got busted somehow having eaten a candy bar before surgery when she was told not to eat before.. so they took her back to her room and rescheduled the surgery for 4. She was finally back in her room and fine by 7:30 yesterday evening.
I called her this morning to check on her, they're fixing to let them come home, getting everything ready. She asked if I'd mind coming to stay with her for a while when Kelly's gone to help her with the boys until she's able to do it, so that's what I'm gonna be doing. I can't wait till they get home.. Just think of how many pics I can post of the new baby then!
Hurry Home Bonnie!!
We took pizza over to Mom's yesterday after we picked Mikyla up from her Cheerleader practice, ate outside in the 85 degree heat, look how dry Mom's grass was. The kids were rolling down the hill, playing, we told them to be careful, if they caused a spark we'd have had a big fire. It is unbelievable how dry everything was.

He was born at 2:15 this afternoon, healthy, and squalling, almost as loudly as Bonnie had minutes earlier. *laughs* egads what a trip that was. Natural childbirth is a hellish little invention!
When I got home, I said "Joel! Joel! You have a brother!!"
He looked at me and then held out his hand to show me, then he said, "No I dont! I have a cookie!"

Lisa had Nick of course, but she's never seen anyone else in labor. It completely freaked her out. I have to say this one shook me up more than any of the other births. Sheesh. I'm glad they're finished having babies now. I love 'em, but enough of that labor business!

When I got home, I came in here and downloaded the pictures to show the kids. They were all excited to see, and stared silently at this one, then the only one brave enough to comment was Maegan, who said, "Ooo! Mammy, he dot a buddah!" ("Oh! Mammy, he's got a booger!") She was pretty worried about that!

Big hands!

And big feet!

Congratulations Bonnie & Kelly! He's just beautiful! Thanks for letting me be there for his first breath. I'll treasure that forever and always. I love you!
.. is student of the month for October? That's right!! It's Mikyla!!!!
Congrations, Mikyla, I am SOOOO Proud of you!!!!!
It's a series on the Discovery channel, ever see it? I love to watch it, you never know when you could use some of the information to...well.. survive. So.. I get my cigarettes and lighter.. my Diet Coke.. whatever fatty and salty (or sugary) snack I feel like munching on while I watch it and for an hour I sit there watching attentively how to SURVIVE!
It seems like the main thing to do is to be INFORMED.. have knowledge, be aware. I lit another cigarette, got distracted when the glow from the burning tip hit the writing on the side of the cigarette box, you know, that little warning about how cigs can give you all those nasty diseases.. it was bothering me so I just took out 10 cigarettes, enough to do me through the show and put them on the table and tossed the box across the room. No need for such distractions when something so helpful to my survival was on. I have to know! I need to learn!
I will SURVIVE!

Their song to dance to is "Splish Splash I was takin' a bath" - I'm not sure how I like these suits yet, but I bet their performance will be cute as all get out!
They wanted to wear hats.. I thought they looked cute too. :)

School Pictures are taken tomorrow.. dang this school business is expensive. The girls needed warmer school clothes, and Maegan needed some too, so we took them and got them set for fall. Had to get Mikyla warm shoes, and cheerleading shoes, the other 2 needed socks and shoes.. They needed some new pajamas, underwear it never ends!
They had to have money for the book fair yesterday, they need money tomorrow for the pumpkin sale, Mal's dance kitten uniform, Mom bought them new jackets. (Thanks, Mom!) Dianne bought Mik's cheerleading uniform..(thanks, Dianne!) Money due tomorrow for fair tickets...and.. we got them their Halloween costumes tonight.
Sarah! Roy! You two are gonna have to start pitchin' in and helping, this is getting out of hand! I can't even begin to imagine what these girls are gonna cost once they hit high school! EGADS!
I wish you and the kids could have gone with us, they (and you) would have enjoyed that. They walked my legs off, but it was worth it, we'll have to go back when you guys can go with us. They had funnel cake!
He talked all the way to Nancy Ky yesterday, all the way back, and once, he sang for me, his own version of "Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star". He cracked me up in his sincerity...
Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
how I wonder what you are...
Up above hum ho ho ho..
Ho Hum, Hum Hum, Ho Ho Ho...
twinkle, twinkle, little star,
how I wonder what you are...
